Terms and Conditions
It is assumed that your dog will be presented for their groom in a ‘normal’ condition i.e. unmatted (you groom your dog regularly between appointments, right down to the skin), and dry. Any condition other than normal may take us longer to deal with, thus incurring additional charges.
This could include a dog that has rolled in a muddy bog, thus requiring more than one shampoo, a dog that has an abundance of burrs, grass seeds or other foreign bodies that take time to remove carefully or dogs who are not in a regular, recommended 4 – 6 week grooming schedule as they will then require longer to groom them into their required style.
In the event that a clip-off is necessary due to matting, the shaving process may cause irritation, expose pre-existing skin conditions, uncovering cuts or other potential problems. Precious Paws and/or its staff will not be held liable for any after-effects of the clip-off procedure, nor for any problems uncovered by clipping off a badly matted, neglected coat. Problems may include, but are not limited to, skin redness, irritation, abrasions however caused, itchiness, post groom furunculosis, pyoderma or haematoma. We adhere to the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and will not subject dogs to any stress or discomfort. Matted clip-offs will always incur extra fees and will alter your dogs appearance due to the necessity of a close-clip.
Any new health issues or skin conditions not present on initial booking must be declared to Precious Paws prior to the groom, even minor complaints.
Grooming may expose underlying skin or health problems that have not been disclosed on initial consultation. Precious Paws will notify the Client as soon as is reasonably possible if any lumps, bumps or skin irritations are found. If the Client’s pet has a severe skin problem then Precious Paws may recommend that the pet is taken to a vet. Precious Paws and/or its staff will not be held liable for any pre-existing, non-disclosed issues.
Precious Paws reserves the right to muzzle your dog or refuse to groom it should it present as a danger to staff or any other dogs in the salon. If this has not been declared, Precious Paws reserves the right to refuse to groom your dog and the full cost of the groom will still be charged because, at that point we cannot fill your appointment.
Neck and belly straps are used in the salon for your pet’s safety to allow them to keep safely within the confines of the table.
Payment and Cancellations
Cancellations must be made with a minimum 24 hours notice. Cancellations made later than this will be subject to a cancellation fee of 50% of the groom.
Should nobody be available to handover the dog (i.e. if nobody is home) at the given appointment time, the cost of the groom will be charged and any further bookings will require payment 48 hours prior to the appointment. Failure to do so will result in the appointment being cancelled.
Payments can be made by card, cash or bank transfer. Payments must be made within 24 hours of the groom. Failure to do so will incur interest at the rate of £2 per day and may result in legal proceedings. Future bookings will require payment 48 hours prior to the grooming appointment, otherwise the appointment will be cancelled.
If your dog is on a regular schedule and the groom has been delayed, there may be extra charges incurred in line with the extra work needed.
For the safety of your pet and Precious Paws’ staff, please refrain from knocking on the door/window of the van once the grooming session has commenced. This will excite your dog and, once you have left, it can take time to settle the dog down again - it can be dangerous to groom an excitable dog. Precious Paws may take photographs or videos of your dog for the clients file and for company website and social media. All photos taken are the property of Precious Paws.
Precious Paws always endeavour to meet your needs and your satisfaction is our upmost concern. In order for us to continue to provide the best service, please ensure you are specific in your styling requests and send photos of examples if required. If you are at all unhappy with any aspect of the groom, please inform me whilst I am on site so that any adjustments can be made to your satisfaction. Once the visit has finished, any return to your property to make adjustments will be treated as a full groom and be charged as such.
Please note that this is a mobile service; I will need access to adequate parking and a mains electricity point (no extension leads) within reach of the parking space (we use a mains lead that is 20m long). If this is not available and the appointment is unable to go ahead, the full payment of the groom will be required.
